Case 9: Administrative assistant, 32 years old.
Main Injury: Acute cervical pain, headaches, thoracic, shoulders and lumbar pain.
Description:

The patient said she feels pain for more than 10 years, which started insidiously. She feels pain frequently, but the cervical pain has been strong, acute for 2 days, making it very difficult to move.

The 18th session was the first she felt no pain, and only felt no more pain after the 24th session, which became constant (8 months after starting the treatment). She made a 6-month interval and returned for maintenance sessions, resulting in 35 sessions.

This quantity of RPG and Sohier sessions (35) was very interesting and satisfying, considering the patient's acute pain initial situation.

Case 8: Art editor, 37 years old.
Main Injury: Incomplete right shoulder Range of Motion (ROM) and cervical pain.
Description:

He says he fell from a chair and dislocated his left shoulder in August/2012. The patient had his L-shoulder immobilized for 15 days and attended 30 conventional physiotherapy sessions. He was told about RPG and Sohier by the physiotherapy staff. He felt pain while moving the L-shoulder, with incomplete flexion (arm lifting) and abduction (arm opening) ROM.

We remember it from the very first day, since it surprised the patient and myself as well while still making the exams. After the exam, almost always some 10-15 session minutes remain, and I generally begin with the treatment, so the patient may get used to the applied techniques.

While there was little time remaining from the first session, I decided to correct his left shoulder joint positioning with Sohier technique... and his arm had an incomplete ROM when we started the session, as it was said previously... though after correcting it in the first day and after just 15 minutes, the patient could move his L-shoulder almost entirely! He was very excited at that time, as he could not move it this way for a long time... I also got very happy and surprised!

After getting his ROM quite fast, the patient still felt the cervical pain, as well as in his L-shoulder. After 30 sessions, he felt no more pain in his shoulder, and his cervical also got better after sessions.

He carried out his treatment uninterruptedly until May/2014 and came back for maintenance sessions in August/2014. During the treatment, he started Pilates lessons, while in a step he virtually felt no more pain.

This case was described in a very detailed way, as its result was very satisfying, because the patient had started the treatment without moving his shoulder completely and he finished it thoroughly recovered, and even eliminated a sedentary lifestyle with Pilates lessons.

Case 7: Bank clerk, 29 years old.
Main Injury: Bilateral lumbar pain and thoracic hyperkyphosis.
Description:

The patient complains about a lumbar pain which had started insidiously (gradual development) for 2 years. Such pain gets worse after walking, as well as when he does not practice routine physical activities for a long time (swimming and bodybuilding).

During the sessions, he also felt cervical pain. On the 13th session (5 months after starting the treatment) he had not been feeling pain, and started the posture maintenance and pain prevention treatment.

Such example has started in October/2012 and this patient still attends to some maintenance sessions after 10-session intervals up to this day. Thus, it is simpler to control any potential pain as we have treated it during the symptom start.

Case 6: Dentist, 32 years old.
Main Injury: Shoulder, cervical and lumbar pain and stress.
Description:

The patient complains about shoulder stress and lumbar "tiredness", which have been felt for 1 year. She feels sporadic cervical pain. Generally, dentists accumulate shoulder and lumbar stress, as delicate and sometimes vigorous hand movements are made (using the remaining upper limb for stabilization), in addition to flex the torso several times, or even standing in such position.

After having started the treatment for some weeks, she also felt some pain in left knee while jogging. It was diagnosed as patellar chondropathy and patellofemoral dysfunction on the MRI.

The pain intensity and frequency have been reduced after attending 20 sessions. The patient continued the maintenance treatment since she was feeling better, especially about the shoulder stress (trapezius muscle). Such stress was an occupational consequence, though it was getting better after attending the sessions.

The treatment lasted for 2 years and a half, including the maintenance sessions, resulting in an excellent recovery of patient's pain and stress, and postural improvement and body awareness as well. She did not feel pain anymore while jogging and engaging in other physical activities.

Case 5: Retiree in a telephone company; shopping-mall Santa for 8 years, 68 years old.
Main Injury: Slipped disk at L1-L2, and disc protrusions at other lumbar areas.
Description:

The patient has started feeling lumbar pain for 3 years after trying to lift a heavyweight gate. At that moment, he felt a "crack" at the lumbar spine. He obtained good results and pain relief after going through acupuncture, but he still felt it sore while rotating and moving the lumbar.

He started RPG and Sohier treatment. After going through 9 sessions, the patient was much better and nearly feeling no pain. Nowadays, after 40 sessions, the patient performs some activities easier, and feels pain only if he stands lying down for a long time after waking up.

At the end of 2014, he worked for 40 consecutive days as Santa, being in sitting position for many hours. But he could work well and practically feeling no pain by doing some exercises and stretching.
